Privacy Policy
1. Scope
This policy applies to visitors to bapu.company, people who contact us, business counterparties, and utility customers or account representatives who expressly authorize us to receive their utility information. It does not apply to third-party websites or services governed by their own policies.
2. Information we collect
- Information you provide: name, email address, telephone number, company, role, correspondence, service requests and other information you choose to submit.
- Authorized utility information: with valid authorization, utility account identifiers, service address, meter identifiers, interval and aggregate electricity or gas usage, billing or rate information, authorization status and related records supplied through PG&E Share My Data or a comparable program.
- Website information: basic security and diagnostic information such as IP address, browser type, request time and pages requested. The current website does not use advertising cookies or behavioral analytics.
- Business records: transaction, contract, support and compliance records maintained in the ordinary course of business.
3. How we use information
We use information to provide requested services; receive and analyze authorized utility data; support agricultural, irrigation, energy-management and business operations; communicate with users; maintain security; prevent fraud or misuse; troubleshoot services; keep required records; and comply with law, contracts and utility-program requirements. We will not use utility data outside the purposes authorized by the account holder and applicable program terms.
4. How we disclose information
We may disclose information to utilities and data providers at your direction; service providers that host, secure or support our systems under appropriate contractual restrictions; professional advisers; government authorities when legally required; or a successor in a lawful business transaction. We do not sell personal information and do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
5. Utility authorization and revocation
Utility data is accessed only after the customer or authorized representative completes the utility’s authorization process. Authorization may be limited by account, meter, data type and time period. A customer may revoke authorization through the utility’s program or by contacting us. Revocation stops future collection after it is processed, but does not require deletion of records we must retain for legal, security or audit purposes.
6. Retention
We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary for the authorized purpose, operational and security needs, contractual obligations, dispute resolution and legal requirements. We periodically review data and securely delete or de-identify information that is no longer needed.
7. Security
We maintain administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information, including encrypted web connections, access controls, authentication, least-privilege practices, logging, software maintenance, protected backups and incident-response procedures. No system is completely secure. See our Data Security Policy for additional information.
8. California privacy rights
Subject to applicable law and exceptions, California residents may request: (1) the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected; (2) deletion; (3) correction; (4) opt-out of sale or sharing; (5) limitation of certain uses of sensitive personal information; and (6) non-discriminatory treatment for exercising these rights. Because we do not sell or share personal information for behavioral advertising, there is presently no sale or sharing from which to opt out.
To exercise a right, email karun@bapu.company with the subject “California Privacy Request.” Describe the request and the relationship or account involved. We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify identity or authority. An authorized agent may submit a request with proof of authorization. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
9. Cookies
The current public website does not use advertising or behavioral analytics cookies. Essential technical features or hosting providers may use limited security or load-balancing technologies. If we introduce non-essential cookies, we will update this notice and provide any consent or opt-out mechanism required by law.
10. Children
Our website and services are intended for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
11. Changes
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our services, legal requirements or data practices. The current version and effective date will remain conspicuously available on this website.
